How Does the Microbiome CONNECT to:
The Immune System, the Brain & the Endocrine System
Found My Fitness
Dr. Rhonda Patrick How the gut microbiome regulates immune cell types. Val's Take -- Conjecture: I think this is important to show the connection between the gut microbiome and immune system. Currently, researchers are viewing bipolar disorder as involving MULTIPLE SYSTEMS OF THE BODY. One of the challenges is the TRADITIONAL ADVICE: "DIET & EXERCISE" --- that's NOT WRONG but for many people it is HALF RIGHT. Further, there are sex differences on some of these issues such as ADHD --- not to STEREOTYPE but there are a lot of ATHLETIC GUYS with ADHD out there, at the same time some (not all) of their female counterparts are struggling with their weight at rates double that of the average. If you think about this from an EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE ---- this may make a lot of sense. If there is MATERNAL IMMUNE ACTIVATION, it may mean Mom is SICK, has an INFECTION, has experienced some TRAUMA ----- the METABOLIC changes to her offspring may have made it much more likely that those offspring would survive and reproduce. So I think we will ultimately get CONTROL over our FITNESS ISSUES --- BUT I don't think we currently have all the pieces to the puzzle. |
