"Researchers are studying the role of the immune system molecule IL-6 in Huntington's disease, which leads to neurodegeneration in a region of the brain called the striatum. Huntington's Disease -- It's rare
But It Can get you in the criminal Justice System tOO
Val's Take
One of the most "bizarre" cases I'm familiar with in Colorado involved a man:
The nursing home called the cops because the man turned over a food tray or something along those lines. When the officers got there -- the officers announced themselves, but the man's back was to them and couldn't hear them -- so he didn't comply with any of their commands. When they came up behind the man -- the man assaulted the officers. The man was taken to jail. Well, the jail doesn't want this guy and the entire system seems to want to get rid of this guy ---- but there is nowhere for him to go. Well, this goes on for months and months and months before this is finally resolved. Now-- Huntington's Disease is pretty rare in the Criminal Justice System, but Cognitive Disability of many different forms isn't. By and large, the Criminal Justice System would move those people out if there was somewhere safe for them to go to --- whether that's SUPPORTIVE HOUSING or a PLACEMENT. And this has gone on for years and years and years. |
Woody Guthrie died in 1967 from Huntington Disease complications.
