Key Changes
When we talk about strength-based recovery it can be surprising the number of people who are homeless or incarcerated who either already have well developed musical talent or are interested in developing their musical talents.
We really need to be able to provide them with the expert coaching and facilities that they could truly benefit from. In fact, that is exactly what is going on in the United Kingdom both in Mental Hospitals and the Community through an award-winning non-profit called Key Changes. It is definitely a stereotype that people with mental illness tend to be artists or creatives of one type or another. While it is not always true, it's sometimes true. We want to build on those strengths, and where necessary compensate for weaknesses. http://www.keychanges.org.uk/about-our-work/ |
